The L3S Research Center of the Leibniz University of Hannover, founded in 2001, is a joint research institute of several universities in Lower Saxony, Germany formally associated with Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH). Work at L3S focuses on excellent AI-based research and the development of innovative and cutting-edge methods and technologies for systems, which are intelligent (characterized by learning processes that allow the acquisition of new skills and deal with a large amount of heterogeneous, uncertain and probabilistic data), reliable (ensuring the reliability of the ever more complex networked and autonomous intelligent systems) and responsible (both reflecting social needs and explore and assess possible effects on personal freedom of development, democratic principles and social interaction). The L3S team builds upon approaches from various areas such as social media analysis, information retrieval, machine learning, natural language processing, semantic web technologies, as well as privacy/security related legal issues and sociology.

International Data Spaces Association – Berlin, DE
Industrial Data Space e. V. (IDSA) is an international association under German law. The Industrial Data Space enables a reliable exchange of data with common rules for all companies – based on an open reference model. With the establishment of the Industrial Data Space Association, business and industry take an active part in designing the architecture of the Industrial Data Space. A total of 18 companies and organizations are among the founding members. The strategic initiative with respect to the Industrial Data Space aims to guarantee data sovereignty by a peer-to-peer network which provides usage control of industrial data. The association Industrial Data Space e. V. pools the requirements on Industrial Data Space, organizes the knowledge exchange between research and business and develops guidelines for the certification, standardization and utilization of the results emerging from the different IDS related research projects on European and national level.

The Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft mbH is a non-profit research institution that manages innovations from universities to market in the area of eTechnologies and Smart Media. It operates a network of currently five research units called Studios cooperating with and creating research synergies among the TU Wien, Johannes Kepler University Linz, and University of Salzburg.
The project will be carried out by the Research Studio Data Science which started operation in 2015. It is an R&D initiative for innovation and applied research that accelerates the development, deployment and adoption of Text Analytics and Data Science technology and relevant innovations. The Research Studio Data Science applies scientifically rigorous data analytics to obtain business-relevant insights based on large amounts of heterogeneous data. The Data Science Research Studio works together with and for companies and public administration to develop innovative solutions for gaining maximum value from unstructured data.

SWC is an SME based in Vienna, Austria founded in 2001 that offers ICT consulting services & solutions in the fields of semantic information- & data management. This includes semantic data- & metadata management, knowledge- and information management systems, linked open data (LOD), enterprise search, information retrieval solutions and social software . Furthermore SWC is software vendor of the self-developed Semantic Suite PoolParty for enterprise-ready solutions in taxonomy management, metadata management and data integration and -analytics. Another part of SWCs work is the successful realisation (specification, design, and implementation) of web based information-, data- and knowledge platforms and collaborative environments with a long time experience of more than 15 years.

The Department therefore contributes to Comprehensive Engineering from a systems integration perspective. Within the department, the ICT group has a long experience in the field of multi-actor business modeling, digital platforms, and open data.
